Doug Levangie of Pentastar Aviation Achieves National Aircraft Appraisers Association Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser
May 25, 2017
WATERFORD, Mich. – Pentastar Aviation announced today that Doug Levangie, Vice President of Maintenance Operations & Advisory Services, has achieved the highest level of appraisal excellence by the National Aircraft Appraisers Association (NAAA), and has been credentialed as a Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser. With more than 35 years of aviation industry experience, Levangie has expertise on a wide range of aircraft to provide aircraft owners and buyers valuable insight on technical evaluations, aircraft pre-purchase inspections, valuation estimates and aircraft selection.
Levangie joins a contingent of more than 175 NAAA members who have earned the Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser credential, a designation that acknowledges professionals who have demonstrated experience and knowledge of all factors that contribute to the valuation of piston or turbine engine aircraft in the market. Since 1980, NAAA has been built on rigid standards of professional practice and conduct to differentiate professionals who take the steps necessary to become certified and perform their jobs under the highest established ethical standards.
“Doug’s achievement of this certification status comes as no surprise to our team,” said Greg Schmidt, President & CEO, Pentastar Aviation. “We have found that his experience, breadth of knowledge and appreciation of aircraft owners’ needs are unmatched in the industry and having this capability in-house eliminates the need for third-party evaluations and supports our company vision to set the standard for world-class aviation services.”
“Knowing the value of an aircraft and establishing this value through a formal appraisal is essential when considering the sale or acquisition of an aircraft,” said Doug Levangie. “Aircraft appraisal findings also inform ownership responsibilities such as insurance coverage and, in a broader sense, safety issues. Obtaining this certification allows me access to the tools I need to provide our clients a detailed recommendation, which in turn provides them everything they need to make a well-informed decision on how to proceed.”
An appraisal report written by an NAAA Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser is an impartial, verifiable opinion of the value of a piston or turbine aircraft, requiring excellent knowledge of the aircraft being evaluated and all known factors that impact supply, demand and valuation in the aircraft marketplace. The senior certification also includes a Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) endorsement and includes the ability to work on legal cases and certain government required reports.
“We are pleased that an aviation professional of Doug’s experience and reputation for excellence in aircraft operations has achieved our highest level of aircraft appraiser certification,” said Brian Jacobson, NAAA president. “We look forward to the contributions that Doug and Pentastar Aviation will make to our organization in the years ahead.”
